Two Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers have carried out a patrol mission in international waters above the Bering Sea, where the US-Russian maritime border passes, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday.

“The flight lasted a total of seven hours. The fighter escort was in charge of the crews of the Su-30 aircraft of the air force and anti-aircraft defense group of the Eastern Military District,” said said the ministry in a statement published in Telegram, which did not specify when the mission took place.

The Defense stressed that all flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out “in strict compliance with international regulations on the use of airspace”.

“Long-range aviation pilots regularly fly over neutral waters in the Arctic, North Atlantic, Baltic and Black Seas and the Pacific Ocean,” the statement added.
