” Early morning We lost our father, husband, brother, uncle, friend and human being who always gave his heart for people. There’s no consolation for those of us who love him and we know him, but we know him for those who love him without knowing him either,” his family said via the mayor’s Twitter account.
The mayor was admitted to a private hospital in Monterrey, Nuevo León, after undergoing surgery for pancreatic cancer, according to his relatives.
The Government of Quintana Roo and all of us who are part of it, regret the sensitive death of our colleague @MDzulCaamalsocial leader, respected politician and municipal president of Tulum.

In recent months, he had been absent from his duties to deal with various complications from cancer and it was on February 28 that Senator Marybel Villegas confirmed that the state of health of Marciano Dzul Caamal was delicate.
According to local media, Diego Castañon Trejocurrent treasurer of the municipality located in the Riviera Maya, will assume the functions of municipal president.
Dzul Caamal was re-elected municipal president on June 6, 2021, so his deputy will be responsible for concluding the government period in 2024.
