donald trump proclaimed himself this Saturday as the only one capable of saving UNITED STATES of the “belligerent democrats and some Republican Party “Suckers” during an ultra-conservative forum in which the former Brazilian president was present Jair Bolsonaro.
To cheers and applause, former U.S. and Brazilian presidents delivered speeches at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), in a city near Washington.
Trump felt that the United States is on its knees and that its citizens must lead “a epic fight to save “the” country from people who hate it and want to destroy it completely.
“We had a Republican Party run by crackpots, neoconservatives, globalists, open-border geeks, and idiots.“, he said, citing some Republican figures by name.
In your opinion, Americans had had enough of ‘political dynasties rooted in both partiesrotten special interests, China-loving politicians” and supporters of “endless foreign wars”.
“We’re going to have a third world war if something doesn’t happen soon.“Warned Trump, who disapproves of US aid to Ukraine.
“I am the only candidate who can make this promise: I will avoid World War III“, he assured.
In almost two hours of speeches, he reviewed his recurring themes, such as the Result of the 2020 presidential election which Democrat Joe Biden won and which he considers fraudulent.
He took it out on prosecutors of the “radical left” when he could be brought to justice by the victims of the storming the Capitol committed by his supporters in January 2021.
And as always, he raised the issue of immigration.
The ex-president boasted of deporting tens of thousands of migrants and having started to build a border wall with Mexicoarrested by Biden, and which he promises to extend if he returns to the White House.
Trump denounced the “total chaos” at the border and accused several countries of “emptying their prisons, asylums and mental institutions and sending all their problems directly to the landfill: the United States”.
Hundreds of thousands of migrants, the vast majority of whom are poor Latin Americans, attempt to cross the border into the United States in search of a better life or to escape violence at home.
The conservative convention had notable absences such as the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence, two possible opponents for 2024, to avoid humiliation by die-hard Trump supporters.
His only declared rival, Nikki Haleyexperienced it firsthand on Friday, interrupted time and time again.
And it’s that Trump’s movement”Make America Great Again(MAGA) took over the Conservative Political Action Conference.
During the convention, the hall was half empty but it filled up when Bolsonaro and Trump took the stage.
“In 2016, I said: I am your voice. Today I add: I am your warrior, I am your justice. And to those who have been wronged and betrayed: I am your revenge.said Trump.
The other CPAC star was Bolsonarowho claimed to have an “exceptional” relationship with Trump.
“Right now, I thank God for my second life and him also for the mission of being President of the Republic for one term, but I feel, deep down inside me, that this mission is not yet finished”, has he told a cheering audience.
His second life began after the stabbing attack in 2018 left him with scars for which he had to be hospitalized several times, including one in Florida, in the southern United States, where he arrived in December, before the inauguration of his successor, the leftist Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Bolsonaro, 67, again complained about the election results.
“I had a lot more support in 2022 than in 2018. Not sure why the numbers were showing otherwise”, repitió Bolsonaro, que en febrero anunció su intention de volver “en las próximas semanas” su país, donde las autoridades brasileñas investigan si instigó o no los asaltos de sus simpatizantes contra el palacio presidencial, el Congreso y la Corte Suprema el 8 of January.
In a speech peppered with references to God and the Bible, Bolsonaro reiterated that he thought he had done “a good job”. “I remain faithful to our principles, to our motto, God, country, family and freedom.”
