On the night of this Thursday, October 7, it was announced that the National Institute of Migration (INM) rescued more than 800 Central American migrants who were traveling in six refrigeration containers and that they were transported illegally by three trailers.

Before the drivers fled, the heavy vehicles had crossed a military checkpoint located at kilometer 52 of the national highway Victoria-Monterrey, in the Ejido Oyama de Hidalgo, in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

The uniformed officers asked the drivers to get out of the units to begin the routine check, but when they saw the situation they chose to flee. Seconds later, the containers were opened to discover the migrants.

Inside the containers there were at least 800 migrants of Central American origin, including men, women and children who were insured by INM personnel, who asked for some documentation so that they will verify their legal stay in the country.

After they were arrested, they were transferred, in the three double trailers to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) delegation Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.

In order to materialize the health service, a mobile module of the IMSS was installed in the immigration headquarters, where medical and nursing personnel carry out the application of the antigen. The vaccination will be extended to all people in the facilities of the INM of Chiapas.

This meets one of the recommendations of the National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH), a decentralized institution that had suggested to the Undersecretariat for Human Rights, Population and Migration, which must guarantee the health of migrants in accordance with the context of the pandemic.

It is important to mention that given the conditions of the migration phenomenon and the people who go through this process, health tasks and the right to health are precarious, since the clandestinity with which these individuals operate greatly limits their ability to exercise these rights.

In addition to this, the presence of the new strain of coronavirus exacerbates is problem, since there is a current pandemic In the country, exposure and the risk of contagion increase according to the exercise of mobility of migrants.

For such reason that the government of Mexico decided to apply the vaccine Cansino, since it is a single dose and this facilitates the mobility of people within the republic; However, being subject to the State capacity to guarantee its applicationIt can only be done in authorized health centers.

Another element that can increase mobility between citizens of other nationalities is the economic crisis that brought with it SARS-CoV-2, because in almost the entire world formal economic activities were paralyzed for more than six months, which triggered unemployment and poverty.
