There Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX) reports that he was able to recover various creations by Mexican and foreign visual artistsstolen in December 2021 from a building located in the town hall of Tlalpan, south of the capital.

“There The prosecutor’s office recovered around 3,052 works of art, valued at more than 16 million pesos“said Ulises Lara, spokesperson for the FGJCDMX, in a message to the media.

According to the official, the investigations determined that these works of art were in two houses with different addresses, which is why two searches were carried out, one in the Jardines de la Montaña neighborhood, in the office of the mayor of Tlalpan, and the other in the Copilco University neighborhood, Coyoacán town hall.

“In each of the homes searched, the investigators recovered works of art, property of the complainants, for which they proceeded to the safeguard of the two goods, as well as the insurance and the transfer of the evidence with the accompaniment of experts. During the procedure, no one was arrested,” said the spokesman for the capital public prosecutor’s office.

He added that there is a context which, in December 2021, the plaintiffs reported the theft of approximately 3,704 Cubist-style workswhich they have recognized as their legitimate property, as part of a family heirloomreason why the corresponding investigation file was opened for the offense of aggravated theft.

There capital public prosecutor’s office He clarified that information had been obtained that the works were offered online through a company and that they were stored in the buildings which had been searched; company whose owners would be relatives and possible participants in the robbery.
