Colombian media, citing Venezuelan sources, announced on Tuesday the death of one of the most wanted men by the country’s authorities. As reported by W Radio, Colombian Army intelligence confirmed Jesús Santrich’s death, as did Semana magazines, who preliminarily indicated that Seuxis Pausias Hernández Solarte had been killed by Gentil Duarte’s dissidents in Venezuelan territory.

Likewise, in the last few hours, Defense Minister Diego Molano, through his Twitter account, had announced the loss of Santrich.

“Intelligence information indicates that in alleged clashes that occurred yesterday in Venezuela, Jesús Santrich and other criminals have died. Information in verification. If this fact is confirmed, it is verified that drug criminals are taking refuge in Venezuela.” Published the minister.

For its part, the Expediente portal assured that thanks to a source at the scene of the events, it is able to confirm that members of the Venezuelan Guard killed him in a possible counter espionage operation that had been carried out, thereby denying other means on a possible confrontation between bands.

According to information revealed by Blu Radio, Colombian Army intelligence agents told the station that the alleged death of Jesús Satrich was confirmed by intelligence agents, who revealed that a human source was inside one of the irregular groups, would have given them the information, who was also important for the capture of alias Matamba.

According to Blu, this Monday afternoon clashes occurred on the border, of which the Colombian authorities had access through interceptions to the communications of the irregular groups, which indicated “the old man fell,” who 3 months ago had met Matamba, according to his informant.

For now, the presumption is that Santrich was in Venezuela in the midst of conflicts between dissident groups, apparently due to the dominance of drug trafficking routes, in the town of La Victoria, Apure state.

On May 13, the Supreme Court upheld the extradition of Jesús Santrich for drug trafficking, who made this decision with a unanimous vote. Since 2018, the United States has asked Colombia for the extradition of the former head of the disappeared guerrilla. But only until May 13, 2021, the Plenary Chamber issued a favorable opinion on the request.

In August 2019 Santrich reappeared to announce with his partner Iván Márquez the creation of a new guerrilla. In a 32 minute video published on YouTube and with a group of more than 10 people, Iván Márquez, who was the FARC’s negotiating leader with the Government of Juan Manuel Santos, announced the birth of the FARC dissidents, of whom It is presumed that they were based in Venezuela, under the protection of the Nicolás Maduro regime.

In this recording also appeared, Henry Castellanos, known by the alias ‘Romaña’, former member of the ranks of the Farc, and José Manuel Sierra Sabogal, alias ‘Zarco Aldinever’, former guerrilla chief and henchman of alias ‘El Paisa’.
