Through the images from a video You can see the moment the shooter fires his gun repeatedly through a window at the people who were inside the church in Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hamburg.
In the video that was recorded by someone from another building, you can see how at one point the power went out inside the religious compound, however, that didn’t stop the gunman to stop, so he continued to shoot from the street towards the inside of the church.
The death toll in last night’s shooting at the Jehovah’s Witnesses church is seven.
According to the weekly “The mirror”he the attacker, also deceased, was a member of this religious community.
The informative television channel NTV citing police sources to put the number of victims at eight, including the attacker, a man between 30 and 40 years old, with no known history of extremism and who opened fire with a pistol, according to “The mirror”.
The attack happened shortly after 20:00 GMT, when the attacker entered the three-storey building where the community’s temple is located and shot at the attendees, who were attending a church service at the time.
There is an unknown number of injured, not yet specified, while it is expected that at 11:00 GMT the authorities, the police and Hamburg Public Prosecutor’s Office to give more information.
The police spokesperson Holger Vehren already advanced last night in statements to NTV which were based on the perpetrator being one of the dead.
An eyewitness, who captured footage of his home with his mobile phone, told the channel he heard at least 25 strokes after the man entered the building and, a few minutes later, another gunshot.
“As things stand, we assume the perpetrator was one. Police measures in the area will be lifted gradually. Investigations are continuing,” police tweeted on Friday.
Police have also indicated where photos and videos of what happened “on relevant events” related to the event can be uploaded to help with the investigation.
Security forces received reports of a shooting after 9:00 p.m. local time (2000 GMT) and a police patrol that was near the religious temple in the neighborhood of Big Hairsouth of the city’s airport, went to the scene.
Initially, it was reported that one or more of the perpetrators may have fled, but this possibility was later ruled out.
Several neighbors said they heard what they identified as gunshots and that these happened on at least four occasions. They said they immediately saw how the police entered the premises.
Around midnight, the police asked the population via social networks to refrain from broadcasting “discussions about the perpetrators or the event” and reported that there was still no “certain information” on the reason for the shooting.
Police forces cordoned off the area near the site and special forces were sent there, according to local media, which said the deployment affected the neighborhoods of Gross Borstel, Alsterdorf and Eppendorf.
Around midnight, a helicopter monitoring this part of the city could be seen flying over the surroundings.
The three-story building is located on Deelböge Street and local media reported that members of Jehovah’s Witnesses meet twice a week at the Kingdom Hall.
The Mayor of Hamburg, Pierre Tschentscherdescribed what happened in the city as “horrifying” and said “security forces are working hard to pursue the perpetrators and clarify what happened.”
