The United States government has once again presented a complaint to Mexico through the Rapid Labor Response Mechanism (RRM) under the trilateral trade agreements between Mexico, the United States and Canada.
This is the septic occasion in which the United States has filed such a request for review against Mexico since the entry into force of the T-MEC. Katherine Tai, The head of the United States Trade Representative Office, announced the United States government has requested that an investigation be carried out in Mexico if the workers of the said factory are deny their rights of free association and collective bargaining.
“The USMCA’s Labor Rapid Response Mechanism (T-MEC in Mexico) is an important tool for defending workers’ rights and helping us promote worker-centered trade policy around the world,” said Tai, according to a press release published by the establishment he leads.
In the meantime, he expressed his desire to work with the Mexican government to address labor issues, “while pursuing the common goal of raising labor standards,” he said.
