“We are very concerned about how social media platforms can become a medium that spreads hate and disinformation, and I think it is up to the social media companies to ensure that this does not happen,” spokesman for the organization Stéphane Dujarric said when asked about it. .

The UN has made clear on several occasions its concern about some of the changes that are being seen in Twitter since the company was acquired by Elon Musk.

Despite this, the organization has chosen to continue using the social network in order to share important information and continue working against hoaxes and misinformation.

The closed Advisory Council was made up of dozens of independent groups and human rights organizations and its end comes after Musk has opted for several controversial measures, such as allowing users banned for violating its rules to return to the platform. , for example by posting messages considered hateful or inciting violence.
