students of the five campuses of the Autonomous Metropolitan University (AMU) began this Friday afternoon a indefinite work stoppage in solidarity with a colleague who denounced having been victim of sexual abuse within its facilities.

According to the student community, the UAM Cuajimalpawhere the events occurred, issued an opinion that cleared an accused student in December 2022 of rape by the young woman from the career of LAW.

The Gender Unit concluded that the complaint was not appropriate and deliberated in favor of the abuser 55 days after the complaint, without issuing precautionary measures.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, the victim pointed out that the university’s decision was a new victimization and had no gender perspective.

“Despite the fact that he accepted it, they said there was not enough evidence to prove the rape, I put screenshots in which he admits the fact and they m ‘said that my vulnerable psycho-emotional state could not be attributed to him, that is to say that I am fundamentally insane and that it was not his fault.”

“I only ask for justice because he accepted it and nothing happened, they didn’t even give him a reprimand. UAM covers the rapists,” he said.

In addition to the strike, other law students decided to take to the streets and block road traffic in the surroundings of Santa Fe, in regards to Basque from Quiroga.

In response, UAM authorities rejected any expression of violence and promised to analyze and strengthen student body regulations and victim care protocols, with actions against gender-based violence.

Likewise, he indicated that communications have been established with those affected to deal with any form of personal and institutional aggression.
