The little Mermaid (The little Mermaid) It’s next to live action from Disney that can be seen in theaters this year. Based on the classic animated musical and the original story by Hans Christian Andersen, the film starring Halle Bailey takes us on a journey through a magical world under the sea ruled by King Triton. Nearly two months after its launch in theaters around the world, Disney has shared the official trailer for the film directed by Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns) and written by David Magee (an extraordinary adventure). The preview reviews the story’s best-known situations: Ariel saves Prince Eric when his ship is destroyed in a storm, the argument she has with her father, and the deceptive pact with the evil Ursula.
“Ariel, the youngest and most defiant of King Triton’s daughters, longs to learn more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, she falls in love with the handsome Prince Eric. While he is forbidden for mermaids to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart, she makes a deal with the wicked sea witch, Úrsula, who gives her the chance to experience life on earth, but ultimately puts her life and crowns her of his father in danger.
Halle Bailey is Princess Ariel in ‘The Little Mermaid’
Actress and singer Halle Bailey was cast in 2019 for the role primarily for vocal performance to perform the original theme songs from The little Mermaid. His selection drew criticism at the time for not having the same skin color as the original character, and on social media he was attacked with racist comments. However, she never hesitated to continue the role and very soon we will see her in the role of Princess Ariel.
Rounding out the cast are Javier Bardem as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Art Malik as Sir Grimsby, and Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina. As for the voice cast of animated characters, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Awkwafina as Scuttle appear.
The feature film is produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda (hamilton there In the neighborhood), Mark Platt (Jesus Christ Superstar in concert), Rob Marshall and John DeLuca; more Jeffrey Silver (The Lion King) as an executive producer. Alan Menken, behind the soundtracks of The beauty and the Beast there Aladdin, composed the original music. The lyrics belong to Howard Ashman and the new compositions bear the imprint of Lin-Manuel.
