A Cessna-type plane, with at least three crew members, collapsed this Tuesday afternoon over the Nichupté Lagoon in Cancun, Quintana Roo.

The air incident occurred around 3:30 p.m., at kilometer 13 of Kukulcán Boulevard, very close to Isla Dorada in the hotel zone. Tourists traveling in a boat captured the tragedy. You can even hear a person say “as long as it doesn’t fall on us.”

After the crash, a video circulated on social networks showing the exact moment in which the aircraft ended up hitting the water.

Immediately, people who were passing through the place in boats and jet skis approached to help the crew. According to information from Asociados Náuticos de Quintana Roo (ANQR), at least one of the crew members was rescued alive, who was taken to a medical center in the municipality of Benito Juárez.

Likewise, it was identified that one of the victims was the pilot, while the other is wanted by elements in boats and diving in the depths of the lagoon.

So far the causes that would have originated this accident are unknown

However, it has transpired in local media that the unit with registration XA-UPC was used as an air taxi, from the company Volamos más Alto, Xomex. It would have taken off from Holbox, about 60 kilometers northwest
