Borussia Mönchengladbach removed Swiss international striker Breel Embolo, suspected of having violated the sanitary rules imposed on players to contain the covid-19 pandemic.

The 23-year-old Embolo is not on Tuesday’s call-up for the Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen, and will not join training until he is negative in a test.

The Bild newspaper published that Embolo participated in a party on Sunday night in which there were 23 people, without wearing a mask or respecting social distance.

Embolo formally denied this information and gave his explanation on Instagram: “On Sunday night, after the game against Stuttgart (2-2), I went to dinner with a friend, under the current circumstances it was a mistake.”

“It is false information, the apartment in which I was was near the place where this party was held,” he added.

Already deprived of Frenchman Marcus Thuram, sanctioned for a spit, the ‘Gladbach’ coach Marco Rose will start on Tuesday to Alassane Plea, his last available forward, who has played less than an hour in the last three games, due to problems muscular.
