The United States Embassy in Mexico announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has opened a tip line to collect photos and videos of the kidnapping and murder of Americans that occurred in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
It was in the afternoon of March 10 that Oliver Rich, special agent of the FBI in the San Antonio division, announced the creation of the Digital Media Information Line (DMTL) for its acronym in English.
The FBI has activated a webpage so that people who have audiovisual material about the event in their possession can download it, so that it can be submitted for analysis.
“Members of the general public will be able to upload their photos and videos for analysis by law enforcement authorities,” it said in a statement.
To share the images and videos, citizens must fill out a brief form in which the FBI requests the following information: first and last name, phone number and email address. The provision of this data is mandatory.
If you want, you can share a description of the material you can contribute to the investigation, such as location and time.
You can upload a maximum of 4 files, which in total cannot exceed 5,000 megabytes (MB). In the event that the material exceeds this limit, it is necessary to call 1-800-225-5324 for instructions.
Likewise, people with information that may be helpful in clarifying the case can share it anonymously with the San Antonio Division of the FBI by calling 210-225-6741 or on its official website.
The US crime investigation is led by the FBI in conjunction with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Investigation (HSI), and other federal partners.
