The Colombian Association of Global Medicine Companies, Acemi, categorically rejected the statements of the director of Invima, Francois Rossito the Health Provider Entities (EPS), saying that in bad faith the said entities “They are withholding and not delivering drugs to patients in an effort to oppose health reform.”

This assertion, Acemi pointed out, is false and baseless and he referred to how documents from the same Ministry of Health indicate multiple causes that can in no way be attributed to EPS, among which stand out : shortage of raw materials, insufficient stocks to meet demand, problems in the supply chain, long response times to procedures before the Invimaincrease in demand, high concentration of market preferences in certain brands, among others.

“Respectfully, Novice invite him InvimaAl Ministry of Health and to all actors involved in the drug supply chain work hand in hand to identify and implement with maximum speed solutions the country needs deal with this serious situation. Likewise, it urges public institutions in the health sector to open channels of communication for the administration of the system outside the process of health reform, whose natural space for discussion is the Congress of the Republic”, Acemi’s statement urged. , socialized to public notice first thing in the morning on Saturday, March 11.

In this regard, it should be taken into account that President Acosta had already listed, for GlobeLiveMedia Colombia, the reasons why there is a shortage of certain active ingredients (the components with which drugs are made) and started with refer to a subject to which Acemi places special emphasis on the Ministry and Invima, and is that related to all procedures, such as health records, where there are thousands of delayed procedures.

“It makes for a more complex situation that could be resolved through strategic action by the national government, to speed up procedures and speed up processes so that medicines can flow. In addition, it is necessary to inject more resources into the system so that the medicines are really sufficient to meet the needs of Colombians”, underlined the president of Acemi, Paula Acosta, earlier in the week.

In addition, Acemi added, before the declaration of the director of Invima, Francisco Rossi, independent academic analyzes such as the National University of Colombia Medicine, Information and Power Think Tankshows that, for a set of 128 active ingredients with supply difficulties, the units sold remained the same or even increased in 107 cases, which shows that purchases have not decreased.

And he clarified that, in recent days, other unions and health secretariats have also pointed to supply problems and shortages of a set of active ingredients with a high impact on the health of Colombians.

“The ace unsubstantiated opinions of the director of Invima, they harm the Health System and provide no technical evidence to explain the phenomenon that the System is experiencing today. It is time to propose solutions and not divert the country’s attention from unfounded accusations that do nothing to help Colombians who today do not have the necessary volumes of medicine to deal with their state of health.” , underlined Acemi.

He added that the raison d’être of the Health Promotion Entities (EPS) is to guarantee the attention of users and patients through appointments with specialists, treatments, surgeries and, of course, to ensure the supply of medicines, which are an important part of the almost 1,000 million treatments a year provided by the Colombian health system.
