Salt Lake City (United States), 18 Feb. – The Cleveland Cavaliers announced this Saturday that they had terminated the contract of Kevin Love, the veteran center will therefore be able to look for a new team and there are already franchises like the Miami Heat or the Philadelphia 76ers who are interested in signing him.
“From all the city of Cleveland and all of Ohio, thank you, Kevin,” the Cavs posted on their social media to say goodbye to a historic player on the team.
Love has been a mainstay for the Cavaliers since 2014 and made franchise history when in 2016 he won Cleveland’s first and only ring so far on the team led by LeBron James and on which Kyrie Irving also stood out.
The love continued in Cleveland when LeBron and Irving packed their bags and last season he seemed to be living a second youth with 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds averaging 22.5 minutes per game (74 games total) .
However, the center had waned in prominence this year in the mighty Cavaliers (fourth in the East with Donovan Mitchell ahead) and played just 41 games with 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and an average of 20. minutes per game.
“I’ll have more to say soon, but I want to get this out of my head. To the people of Cleveland and all of Ohio. I fucking love you and always will. Thank you for everything,” Love, who had asked the Cavaliers to leave the team, wrote on Twitter to have more minutes in another destination.
