The world keeps turning to see Joaquin the Chapo Guzman and his Sinaloa Cartel when you think about drug trafficking; However, the United States is increasingly looking at Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the Mencho, leader of Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) who, according to the authorities of that country, has formed the most powerful criminal organization on the planet.

The CJNG has specialized, above all, in the trafficking of opioids, such as the fentanyl, which is trafficked to the US in the form of pills. In order to trade these illicit substances, the criminal organization has had to fight for the squares of the southern border of the United States.

Drug Enforcement Administration Reports (give) reveal that currently, the influence of the CJNG extends into 20 regions of the North American nation, Seattle, Santa Rosa, Modesto, Orange Country, San Diego, Los Ángeles, Denver, Chicago, Farview Heigts, New York, Imperial, Kansas City, Texas, Houston, Laredo, Lexington, Roanoke, Memphis, Atlanta, Gulfport y Orlando.

On USA – occupying a vast swath of North America – the CJNG has found a refuge. DEA documents warn that the criminal group operates with the help of gangs, some of them have evolved to “domestic cartels”.

In Mexico, the CJNG has a presence in 23 of the 32 states, with most of its growth in the central zone and with strategic locations on the US border. According to the DEA, the CJNG also influences the busiest Mexican ports, one of them Manzanillo, Colima, which it uses for the distribution of large quantities of drugs.

The rapid expansion of the CJNG is characterized by the group’s willingness to engage in violent confrontations with the Mexican government, security forces, and rival cartels.

In May 2015, the Jalisco Cartel shot down a helicopter with a rocket launcher, which killed eight soldiers and a federal police officer. Since then, the clashes between the Mexican government and the organization of the Mencho they were constant and very violent.

Its leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, is the most wanted person by the DEA, and he is accused of running a criminal enterprise continuously since 2007, of conspiring to import and distribute cocaine and methamphetamine in the United States and using firearms, among other crimes.

Shortly after its appearance, the CJNG links covered between eight and 11 entities, according to Mexican reports and the Drug Control Administration. However, currently, reports from Lantia, Stratfor and the US Congress indicate that it would be in practically the entire territory of Mexico, with the exception of Sinaloa.
