Castany recalled that the murderer had accused the victim, as an excuse in the investigation, of not taking care of his son, of having raped the minor and of having problems with Dependencies. Faced with this, the prosecutor defended her position by stressing that women should not be held responsible for what happened or raise cases of gender violence as if it were “a conflict between peers or just a dysfunctional relationship”.
“Stereotypes and gender bias in the judicial system, they have very serious consequences because they can cause judges to misinterpret the laws,” he noted during his oral argument.
