The Ministry of Defense of Taiwan reported this Sunday that it has detected 19 military aircraft in the south of its Air Defense Identification Zone (ZIDA).
Specifically, it is a Y-8ASW, four H-6, ten J-16 and four Su-30, as explained by the Ministry through an official statement.
The Chinese aircraft “entered the southwest of ZIDA on September 5, 2021.” Taiwan issued a radio warning and deployed air defense missiles to track these aircraft, Bloomberg reports.
Chinese fighter jets have frequently entered the southwestern part of Taiwanese airspace for about a year, as China considers Taiwan as its own territory even though it has been ‘de facto’ independent since the civil war that ended in 1949.
