Paris, March 7. The Paris fashion show ends this Tuesday after an intense week during which more than a hundred collections were presented, half of them in fashion shows, for the next fall-winter 2023/2024 and these are the trends you will see on the streets within six months.
– Masculine and very wide coats
Paris is above all distinguished by its sobriety. From Saint Laurent to Chanel, via Stella McCartney, Loewe, Balenciaga and almost all the great designers, they all come together to offer a tailored coat, masculine but, yes, with very broad shoulders.
It’s not that he’s wearing shoulder pads that the size seems large. And the more, the better.
– “Black is black”…
As Los Bravos sang, black seems to be the color of the season. So much so that brands like Chanel, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Dior or Valentino make it their protagonist.
The all-black style works for almost all brands, which have imagined austere collections in colors and silhouettes: fluidity, simplicity and a return to basics take precedence.
– …Except the shoes
But if any part of the body is freed from darkness, it is the feet. Firms like Loewe, Givenchy or McCartney surprise by adding shoes in very bright colours: red, green, orange, pink… Fluorine manages to contrast the darkness and add a touch of pop among so much formalism.
– Long live the skirts!
The skirt has been one of the most watched garments this week on the catwalks. They are worn mid-length, straight or trapeze-shaped.
But long skirts have also been repeated on the catwalks, a silhouette that triumphs with materials such as silk (as seen in the first collection by Ludovic de Saint Sernin for Ann Demeulemeester), or knits, adjusted to the body, as this is demonstrated by the commitment of AZ Factory, and in a skirt-trousers version (also in mesh), according to Loewe’s proposals.
– All pleated
On this occasion, it’s not just Issey Miyake who offers pleated fabrics. Mame Kurogouchi, Chloé, Givenchy or Acne followed in the footsteps of the Japanese – who in turn had applied the techniques of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo from Granada to synthetic fabrics.
For these brands, all a dress or skirt needs to be trendy is that it be pleated.
– motera hunters
From Balenciaga to Courrèges via Acne and Loewe, the biker-style leather jacket remains an unfailing item of clothing. And as they are widely worn – except at Balenciaga which uses short ones from the 2000s – we still have time to recover those of our parents.
– Ties for her
Another garment that is also easy to obtain. The tie surprises by sneaking into the Dior and Valentino fashion show, which strive to break up feminine outfits with the most exclusive accessory in the men’s wardrobe. It’s not “Annie Hall” but more black and sharp in a remake of the 90s hit “Men in Black.”
