We get along well, ”are the compliments of Justice Smith – known for Detective Pikachu there Generation– for his stage partner.

As Brianna Middleton describes it, Sharper it’s a “perspective film”, because it’s divided into each character’s stories. It starts with Tom, and the first impression the film leaves is that he and Sandra share a very special romantic bond. “There are different points of view in the film where you see different perspectives. You can see the characters differently and I think it’s… I don’t know, there’s humanity in what we see. The different stages of the characters and I think that’s a very human way to see a movie. And it intrigues me and I would like to continue to do so,” says the actress.

A refreshing and human action film

Sebastian Stan, the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is a star obviously tied to the action genre in movies. However, this time he applauded the different approach within that same cinematic style exhibited by director Benjamin Caron (The crown) with screenwriters Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka: “It’s refreshing that we made a film like this with very specific characters…”.

And he adds, “A lot of times you have things like the car chases, the action part or something like that; and here the action scenes are based on dialogues that last much longer than usual in a movie. And they were very well written, it was fun, it felt like you were in a discussion.”

For his part, Smith points out that the narrative is based on the human connection itself. “Our relationships in the way we communicate and the things we want for each other can be as exciting as an action movie. There’s room for all types of movies, but I love this one that takes a wrong path for human attention,” he argues.

The film is set in the secrets of New York, from the penthouses of Fifth Avenue to the shady corners of Queens. Motivations are suspect and expectations are turned upside down when nothing is as it seems.
