Russia has moved some of its long-range artillery and rocket launchers into attack position, threatening Ukrainerevealed on Monday a United States official quoted by the CBS News network.
According to the source, some Russian units have left the areas where they were congregated and which were visible through satellite photos and they are getting into “attack positions”.
This move marks a change from Sunday, when some units had broken away from the zones they were in but were not yet placed in what is considered attack position.
The United States believes that Russia could attack Ukraine by the end of this week. At some point the president Joe Biden mentioned Wednesday, February 16, as a possible date, although his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyironized with that possibility.
The US official warned that once the Russian attack begins, what the US will be able to know will be drastically reduced.
The Americans will have no troops on the ground, or reconnaissance aircraft in the air, and possible cyber attacks Russians will make communications impossible, he explained.
Russia is now believed to have on the ground 80% of the forces it needs to launch a full scale invasion and the rest is on the way.
