The authorities of Russia They lowered the number of deaths to eight today in the shooting that occurred this Tuesday at a school in the city of Kazan, in the south-west of the country, including seven children, and to twenty people who were injured in the tragedy.

The press service of the President of the Russian republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnijánov, reported that in the attack against the school 175, carried out according to the authorities by a 19-year-old former student, a teacher was also killed.

According to the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan, 21 people have been taken to hospitals, three adults and the rest children.

A total of 18 students were transferred to the cynical hospital for children of the republic, including six who are in intensive care units and are in critical condition.

The rest are being examined by doctors after having suffered injuries, fractures and bruises, according to Health.

The spokeswoman for the president of Tatarstan, Lilia Galímova, said that the author of the attack “was alone” and denied that there were two suspects as previously reported by several Russian media.

Previously, the TASS agency had reported that another suspect was cornered in one of the plants and killed by security forces.

The former student, who bought his gun legally, was arrested. There was no security at the school when the attack occurred.

At the time of the event, there were 714 children at the school, created in 2006, and about 70 employees, including 52 teachers, according to TASS.

A criminal case has been opened for the shooting.
