Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov assured on Friday that Moscow has no intention of attacking Ukraine.

Russia accused the United Kingdom this Sunday of misinforming and spreading “nonsense”, rejecting that it intends to install a pro-Russian leader in Kiev while considering invading and occupying Ukraine, as the Foreign Office had disclosed.

Under the title “Circulating disinformation”, the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a message on Twitter early Sunday to accuse “Anglo-Saxon nations” of “intensifying tensions” over Ukraine.

“We urge the Foreign Office to stop spreading nonsense,” concludes the brief message from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The United Kingdom on Saturday claimed to have information indicating that Russia intends to install a pro-Russian leader in Kiev while it considers invading and occupying Ukraine, according to a statement from the British Foreign Office.

Former Ukrainian deputy Yevhen Murayev is considered a possible candidate, according to the Foreign Office, which indicates that it has information that the Russian intelligence services have links with many former Ukrainian politicians.

“The information being released today sheds light on the extent of Russian activity designed to subvert Ukraine, and is an insight into Kremlin thinking,” British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said in the statement.

“Russia must de-escalate, end its campaigns of aggression and disinformation, and follow the path of diplomacy. As the UK and our partners have repeatedly said, any Russian military incursion into Ukraine would be a massive strategic mistake with severe costs.” Truss added.

This information came to light after the intense contacts between Russia and the United States about the tension over the deployment of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.

The US, which numbers more than 100,000 Russian troops, considers the Russian-Belarussian exercises “worrying” , which is added to the announcement on the eve of the largest naval maneuvers in Russian history.

Meeting in Geneva with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov assured on Friday that Moscow has no intention of attacking Ukraine.
