Rosario: Federal police arrested a suspected drug lord and his policeman brother

Federal police arrested on Thursday Daniel “Dani” Godoysuspected leader of a drug gang that operates in the city of Pomegranate Baigorria and in the neighboring Santa Fe South Industrial Belt Rosario. Godoy, 51, is seen in the case as the alleged leader of the organization that has historically disputed territory with Marcelo “Coto” Medranomember of the Newell’s bar brava who was assassinated with 15 shots in September 2020 at the exit of a YPF gas station in Granadero Baigorria, a town attached to the north of Rosario. Gabriel, a brother of “Dani” who is a police officer, is accused of this brutal murder, since the prosecutors of this investigation have identified him as the driver who transported the hitmen.

Federal police officers who arrived from Buenos Aires took part in the proceedings carried out on Thursday. In total there were seven detainees: in addition to the alleged leader, his brother Diego Adrián Godoy (also a policeman), Priscila Giuliana R., José Hermes M., Carlos Tomás G., Víctor Emilio G. and Lara Anahí B. During the raids, discreet throughout the afternoon, 300 grams of cocaine, balls of marijuana, a 9 millimeter pistol with its 13-ammunition magazine (belonging to police officer Diego Godoy, brother of “Dani”) were seized. , two .38 caliber revolvers with ammunition, eleven cell phones, four motorcycles, four cars and documentation that will be analyzed in the coming hours.

“Dani” Godoy had already been arrested. In March 2021, the special operations troop arrested him in the town of Andino after a follow-up by prosecutor Aquiles Balbis, in charge of the investigation into the murder of “Coto” Medrano.

Fornes was sentenced last December to a suspended prison sentence of 3 years and a fine of 3 million pesos for the maneuvers which were carried out while Godoy was under arrest for the murder of Medrano.
