At least 14 people have been arrested after the demonstrations called on Thursday night against the illegalization of abortion, according to the Police, who made a wide deployment to guard the Constitutional Court.
The surroundings of the court were the scene of these new mobilizations, after the Constitutional Court published this week the arguments of the sentence with which it illegalized the voluntary interruption of pregnancy in the event of serious fetal malformations.
The security forces surrounded the protesters and allowed them to leave the area after showing an identity document, but intervened to forcibly remove those who did not want to leave voluntarily. According to the leader of the National Women’s Strike, Marta Lempart, five people were still in custody this Friday.
Meetings of more than five people are prohibited to prevent coronavirus infections, but new mobilizations have been planned for this Friday. Human rights organizations have questioned the restrictions on abortion, which practically make this practice illegal.
