Sports writing, March 9. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates), leader of Paris-Nice, calmly passed the fifth stage of the “Carrera del Sol”, the longest of this edition, but predicted that this Friday there could be surprises in a classic step cut. .

“I made the most of this first day in yellow at Paris-Nice. Without stress, it was a very beautiful day, with more sun. I know very well the heights of the last day, but not those of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. I’m sure tomorrow will be stressful, almost like a classic where there can be surprises, anything can happen,” he said.

Pogacar also recalled the day on Saturday with the final ascent of the Col de la Couillole, “where the effort will have to be calculated very well”.

In this Thursday’s stage, Pogacar tried to scrape off more seconds in the intermediate sprints, but this time without result.

“I tried to find bonus seconds a little before the climb. I made a small mistake trying to overtake on the right, but it was not possible,” he concluded.
