Sad news to finish the 2021 Dakar Rally. The organization of the test has communicated that this Friday Pierre Cherpin died while I was traveling on a medical plane from Jeddah to France as a result of injuries sustained in a very heavy fall during the seventh stage disputed between Ha’il and Sakaka at kilometer 178.
Transported by emergency helicopter to Sakaka Hospital, Cherpin was operated on by the neurosurgery department of a severe head injury with loss of consciousness, which forced the doctors to induce him into a coma to mitigate possible consequences.
