In Semi-Final 1 of the 2023 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship, Mexico fought 5-0 and retained all three points against Panama. Stephano Carrillo (36′ 1T), José Urias (21′ 2T), Brandon Lomeli (32′ 2T), José Suarez (45′ 2T) and Martin Krug (12′ 2T, against) were the authors of the crushing victory of the local team.

José Suarez was applauded with his brilliant finish after 45 minutes in the second half. After an individual play from the right, the defender finishes the goal from outside the area and dislodges the opposing goalkeeper by nailing the ball in the corner.

A shot from Isaac Martínez hit the post after 32 minutes and Mexico lost their chance to take the lead.

José Suarez gave a great performance. The Mexican defender was important by converting 1 goal.

José Urias also performed well. The Mexican midfielder scored 1 goal, made 22 correct passes and was encouraged to strike 3 times.

The game was contested, but there were more infractions than the creation of fair play. There were 3 reprimands: Javen Romero, Giancarlos García and Álex Valencia.

Mexico DT Raúl Chabrand presented a 4-3-3 tactical arrangement with Norberto Bedolla in goal; José Suarez, Kevin García, Luis Navarrete and Javen Romero on the defensive line; José Urias, Gael Álvarez and Isaac Martínez in the middle; and Fidel Barajas, Stephano Carrillo and Brandon Lomeli in attack.

Meanwhile, Michael Stump’s side came out with a 4-3-3 tactical arrangement with Manuel Romero under the three sticks; Juriel Nereida, Martin Krug, Giancarlos García and Juan Hall in defence; Juan Jiménez, Anel Ryce and Kahir Tovares in midfield; and Kevin Walder, Luis Gaitán and Oldemar Castillo in front.

Adonis Carrasco García was the chosen referee for the match at Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium.

Mexico have qualified for the final of the 2023 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship and are waiting for their rival (Canada or USA). The tournament champion will be determined next Sunday, February 26.
