A video has gone viral on social networks showing the efforts of medical staff at a hospital in Jalisco to prevent a patient from falling to the ground.
Moments of anguish and tension were experienced a couple of nights ago at the 180 Regional General Hospital of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, where the medical staff mobilized to prevent a patient from falling from the second floor of the building.
A video went viral on social networks showing how 4 workers of this hospital tried to hold the patient’s arms to prevent him from falling into the void.
While this happens and the man is seen hanging from the edge, wearing a medical gown and underwear, downstairs there are other hospital employees who quickly gather and place mats on the floor so that in case the patient fell, the blow would be less.
Despite the effort, the orderlies and doctors who were holding the man were unable to hold him, so they decided to let him fall, precisely where there were already dozens of mattresses on the floor. Although the fall looks spectacular, amidst the screams of the people who witnessed the event, fortunately the patient escaped unharmed from the incident.
Quickly, other doctors and orderlies dragged him to place him on a stretcher so that he could be checked in depth; tranquility came when they saw that the subject was moving, thus ruling out further damage.
After the video of this event went viral, the IMSS informed through a statement that the patient was stable after the fall; they also indicated that no family member was with him at the time of the incident, so they do not rule out that it was a suicide attempt.
