Luis Mestre the younger brother of the Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Luxembourg died yesterday at the age of 64 in Geneva (Switzerland), as confirmed by the Grand Ducal House itself through an official statement that they have posted on their Instagram account.
“It is with great sadness that Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess announce the death of D. Luis Mestre, younger brother of Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchesstoday in Geneva at the age of 64”can be read in the statement, in which no further details are given about the reason for the death.
Luis Mestre had been ill for some time. Two years ago, her sister was forced to cancel her official schedule to be with him after she had to be urgently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Mestre is the youngest of the four children of José Antonio Mestre and María Teresa Batista-Falla. He is the second brother the grand duchess He has to fire since the eldest, José Antonio, died in 2015, at the age of 62, after several days in a coma due to cardiovascular problems.
