After spending seven days on a hunger and thirst strike, the member and leader of the San Isidro Movement, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, was transferred at dawn this Sunday to the General Calixto García University Hospital, reported the Provincial Directorate of Health of Havana on your Facebook account.
Otero Alcántara was in “a conscious state and wandering without difficulty,” added the agency.
In addition, the health authorities indicated that Otero Alcántara is stable and remains under observation.
“The physical examination did not reveal signs of malnutrition, with the presence of normal clinical and biochemical parameters,” they detailed in a statement.
As indicated by the San Isidro Movement on its Facebook page, Luis Manuel decided to start a hunger strike “as a last resort to claim his rights to free artistic expression.”
