A man, a confessed murderer of children and considered a “bloodthirsty vampire”, was lynched on Friday in a town in Kenya, where he had fled after escaping police surveillance, official sources indicated.
Masten Hungry Works had been arrested on July 14 after the disappearance of two children, but in a chilling confession he admitted to having killed ten other minors, in a period of five years, “sometimes by sucking the blood from their veins, before executing them” according to then reported the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The 20-year-old man was due to be tried this Wednesday for the cold-blooded murder of two 12 and 13-year-old boys, when police officers found that the accused had disappeared from his cell.
But on Friday, he was captured by a mob after being identified by schoolchildren in his hometown of Bungoma, more than 400 kilometers away from the police station from which he escaped.
“He was originally from this region, and was recognized by the children, who warned and the information spread, so the villagers persecuted him”, said a local official, Bonface Ndiema.
“He broke into a neighbor’s house, but was discovered and lynched,” he added. The police confirmed the liquidation of Masten Milimo Wanjala.
“Our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their innocent children to the suspect.” said the agents.
