After meeting with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and businessmen from the American Union, Ken Salazarambassador of the United States (EU) in Mexico, assured that the future of North America is between both countries.
Salazar avoided talking about the Summit of the Americas, to which President López Obrador He has warned that he will not attend if all the countries of the continent are not invited. Upon leaving the private meeting that took place at the National Palace, the US ambassador gave a brief statement to the media stationed outside the historic site. “Everyone is working very well, the President and his team and the companies working to see how we move forward, because everyone recognizes that the future of North America is here between the United States and Mexico. So it goes very well,” he commented. For the second consecutive week, López Obrador led private meetings with Ambassador Salazar and with US businessmen to discuss issues in the energy sector.
Roberto Velasco, Head of the Unit for North America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assured that the meeting did not address matters related to the Summit of the Americas.
