Member of Congress and spokesperson for popular revival, Jorge Montoyaspoke to the media and assured that there is a group of members of Congress who are threatened to support the approval of early elections for this 2023.

The parliamentarian indicated that it should be clarified as soon as possible who is behind these actions which attempt to intimidate members of Congress so that a political sector “benefits” from this measure initiated by the Executive.

“Here, there are threats against members of Congress. “I’m going to burn your house down if you vote to not advance the election.” Such are the threats that exist and these members of Congress have nowhere to turn, they are alone here and God knows what happens to their families in places where they are threatened. This is the reality,” said the parliamentarian.

It’s not the first time that Jorge Montoya shows its rejection of this measure promoted by Dina Boluarte and assures that the best measure is for the president to step down.

After congressional approval to reopen the debate on advancing the election, the Renovación Popular spokesperson presented a reconsideration of the vote. This action was contested by Hernando Guerra GarciaPresident of the Constitutional Commission.

“It’s one thing to have different opinions and another to obstruct. For us, it’s a hindrance to what we consider to be a radical right, which opposes the possibility of early elections”, did he declare.

After that he criticized that from the party popular revival do not accept the holding of legislative elections for 2023 and have asked that a “solid consensus” be found to carry it out “as soon as possible”.

“When there is political will, things can be done, but when there is obstruction before the Plenary, the only thing we can do is wait for a new vote in a following session. There, the task is to seek a solid consensus to have elections as soon as possible”.

the bench popular revival asked the government of Dina Boluarte to initiate “urgently” the procedure of denunciation of the American Convention, as well as the withdrawal of Peru from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR).

“(This) in the face of repeated instances of statements with obvious political bias against national interests and the real victims of human rights violations that this organization has been committing for years,” reads the document signed by the spokesman Jorge Montoya.

“This corresponds to Congress of the Republic support initiatives for the reform and modernization of our judicial system, in whose institutions lies the support for the autonomy and jurisdictional independence of the Peruvian State, with regard to supranational courts that do not favor the development and the prosperity of peoples,” the document adds.
