Lorenzo Córdova, president of the National Electoral Institute (INE), announced that on March 9, the agency presented the second constitutional controversy against electoral reform, better known as plan B, before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).
“A few minutes ago, the INE presented to the @SCJN, the second Constitutional Controversy against the second package of legal reforms known as Plan B. It is time for the courts. We hope that democratic and constitutional order will be restored,” he said via social media.
The request for constitutional controversy is against the decree for the reform of the general law on electoral institutions and procedures, the general law on political parties and the organic law on the judicial power of the Federation, as well as against the promulgation of the general law on the means of contestation in electoral matters.
