On the night of March 14, the activation of a mudslide was reported in the neighborhood of La Victoria, located in Quiruvilca, La Libertad. The phenomenon devastated a village, injuring 16 people. As the hours passed, the number of four dead following the landslides which submerged everything in mud and stones was confirmed.
Through his official communication channels, Mayor Walter Días Ramos indicated that those who lost their lives were engineers from the region. On the other hand, the survivors were transferred to hospitals in Trujillo and Huamachucho for treatment as soon as possible.
Using machines and other tools, operations began to lift the rubble and be able to see if there were more people below who needed to be rescued immediately.
One of the measures taken by the authority is the evacuation of families from La Victoria, for which they were transferred with the few possessions they were able to save.
The region’s mayor has contacted the relatives of the four deceased to express their support, as well as their assistance in the efforts to transfer the bodies to their places of origin.
