The Primero Justicia (PJ) party, of which Venezuela’s two-time presidential candidate is a member Henrique Caprilesannounced this Friday the start of a programmatic congress, with the aim of building a government project based on citizen proposals.
“We approach the country with humility to listen to everyone and invite them to build a common project. In the face of a dictatorship that silences, we offer a policy that recognizes and encourages conversation“, indicated the vice-president Training and Programs of the PJ, Paola Bautista, quoted in a press release.
He pointed out that this is not the right time for opposition political parties, which is why they seek to change this situation.
“For us, it is essential to move from disappointment to hope, from denunciation to proposal and from dictatorship to democracy. He Programmatic Congress He intends to connect to this reality, because it will be a meeting space for Venezuelans,” he added.
Bautista said this process has two lines of action: a theme with issues such as education, human rights, unions and trade unions, environment and migration, and the territorial axis, which will take place in 1000 parish congresses (by sector), on March 18, and 300 municipal congresses in April.
Capriles will be the Primero Justicia candidate for the opposition primaries, which will be held on October 22, in which the leader of the opposition who will face the Chavista regime of Nicolás Maduro in the presidential elections, scheduled for 2024, will be chosen.
The president of the PJ, María Beatriz Martínez, indicated that the candidate, currently disqualified from exercising political functions, will be proclaimed in a “great national political committee”, which will be held “next Friday, March 10”.
“This proclamation also establishes the clear, real and concrete opportunity to show the country what has been built and what has come out and spoken very clearly over the past 6 months,” he said.
