Los Angeles (USA), 23 Feb. Los Angeles County Superior Court sentenced former movie producer Harvey Weinstein to 16 years in prison on Thursday after he was found guilty of three counts of rape and sexual abuse of an Italian-born model.
A Californian jury sentenced him last December for rape, sexual penetration and “forced oral relations” on this woman.
The 70-year-old former Hollywood mogul will have to serve 16 years after the 20 years he has to serve, the result of the trial he faced in 2020 for similar behavior.
On Dec. 19, 2022, Weinstein, the builder of a movie industry empire, was found guilty of three counts of abuse after a trial held in Los Angeles that lasted about two months.
The producer was tried on seven counts based on charges brought by four women who were sexually assaulted between 2005 and 2013, all allegedly in hotel rooms in Los Angeles.
Two of them were for rape while the other five were for sexual harassment. Weinstein was acquitted on one of the charges against him and the jury could not reach a plea agreement on the rest. ECE
