The Extremadura Committee referee Jesús Gil Manzano will referee next Sunday the final of the Spanish Super Cup, who will face Barcelona and Athletic Club at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, with the Canary Alejandro Hernández Hernández as VAR.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed this Friday the refereeing team for the match, in which the Balearic Guillermo Cuadra Fernández will be AVAR1; José María Sánchez Martínez, from the Murcian Committee, will be the fourth referee and Ángel Nevado Rodríguez (C. Extremeño) and Javier Martínez Nicolás (C. Murciano) will act as assistant referees.

Gil Manzano, who will always be remembered in Barcelona for the episode of his departure from the Estadio de La Cerámica with the Real Madrid bags, he has directed 26 games to Barcelona with 16 wins, six draws and four defeats. Those meetings resulted in six expulsions against Barcelona.

Expulsions and some other penalties not called in previous games (in Barcelona the unmarked penalty from Diego Carlos to Messi in the first round of LaLiga still stings) they make the Catalans have ‘zeal’ for this decision of the RFEF. Athletic will not like this election very much either. Gil Manzano was the referee who sent Raúl García off in the league match against Real Madrid.
