Lima, March 5. The European team ‘Gaimin Gladiators’ obtained its first ‘Major’ this Sunday in the competitive system of the Dota 2 video game in the city of Lima, because by achieving a resounding 3-0 in five games, the Gladiators won 200,000 $ and 400 points to qualify for this year’s World Cup.

The team consisting of Russians Anton Shkredov ‘Dyrachyo’ and Melchior Hillenkamp ‘Seleri’ along with Dane Marcus Hoelgaard ‘Ace’, German Erik Engel ‘tOfu’ and American Quinn Callahan ‘Quinn’ prevailed over the Polish-Swedish team of Team Liquid in three consecutive matches at Arena 1 on the Costa Verde in Lima.

The best player in the game, Anton Shkredov ‘Dyraycho’, felt all the support of the Peruvian people and told EFE that “they are proud of me and I thank them”, after winning his first Major.

“I just did my thing. Each of us gave 100 per cent and we did it together,” he explained after being a key player in the Gaimin Gladiators’ triumph.

Team Liquid started Game 1 off on the right foot by getting “first blood,” but the Gladiators tied the score in less than a minute. A harbinger of how even the “early game” was going to be in the game.

At minute 20, the net worth moved away from nine thousand gold coins in favor of Gaimin Gladiators, an advantage they imposed throughout the game by obtaining two ‘roshan’ and a ‘triple kill’ for the Russian carry ‘Dyrachyo’.

In the 43rd minute, the Gladiators took advantage of ‘Dyrachyo’ and won the opener in 45 minutes.

The second game started with an advantage for the Gladiators in the hero selection, again Russian ‘Dyrachyo’ would choose ‘Lina’ to carry the game. Team Liquid would bet on a quick game which unfortunately went off the rails in the 20th minute , after an offensive led again by ‘Dyrachyo’ which ended in the death of the five rival heroes.

After a final fight at 21 minutes, Gaimin Gladiators’ lead over Team Liquid was 22-6 with a net worth difference of 14k, causing an inevitable “good game” to hand the team the game of gladiators.

In the third final match, both teams tried some unusual hero combinations, once again clearing the way for Anton Shkredov ‘Dyrachyo’ to pick ‘Lina’ for Gaimin Gladiators and Michal Jankowski ‘Nisha’ to pick ‘Ancient Apparition’ for Team Liquid.

The game remained very even for the first twenty minutes, during which the Russian Anton ‘Dyraycho’ stood out again with more than four thousand net worth differences against the fifth rival. The game ended up dragging into the 30-minute mark, after multiple errors from Gaimin Gladiators in all five rounds.

Team Liquid incisively chased the Russian fifth, but despite getting a kill, their team immediately appeared to pull off the counterattack and avenge ‘Dyrachyo’. A well-executed strategy that Liquid couldn’t overcome and ended up being defeated at 42 minutes.

At the end of the match, the Peruvian fans gave both teams a standing ovation for having given everything in this Lima Major.

The winning team stopped to watch the crowded grandstand to send their greetings, while one of its members Erik Engel “tOfu” raised a Peruvian flag and a sign reading “I love you Peru”.

Lima Major 2023 closed its last date awarding a total of half a million dollars in prize money to the teams that competed and with a venue at the peak of its capacity of eight thousand people. ECE
