The French President, Emmanuel Macronconfirmed this Tuesday to his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, that the delivery of weapons to the Eastern European country invaded by Russia will intensify “in the coming days and weeks.”

In a telephone conversation, “Macron confirmed that arms deliveries by France will continue and will gain more intensity in the coming days and weeks,” the French Presidency said.

France At the end of April, it had announced its intention to “strengthen” the shipment of military material and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which has been facing the invasion of its territory by Russian troops since February 24.

France was initially reluctant to deliver heavy weapons to Ukraine, insofar as Macron had regular talks with the Russian president, Vladimir Putinand positioned himself as a possible mediator in the war.

But those contacts dwindled, opening the way for increased military assistance.

The G7 “will never recognize” the borders that Russia wants to impose by force in its war in Ukraine, the foreign ministers of the G7, which brings together the world’s seven most industrialized nations, said on Saturday.
