First lady of Chile tests positive for coronavirus

The first lady of ChileIrina Karamanos, gave a positive test this Friday covid-19as confirmed through social networks.

“Today I tested positive for covid-19, after doing a preventive PCR test. I am fine, taking all the necessary precautions and following the instructions of the health authority”, the progressive’s wife pointed out through Twitter Gabriel Boric.

Karamanos, 32, will begin a 7-day isolation at home in Santiago, as indicated by national health regulations.

Due to the isolation, she will not participate in person for a week in her work as first lady or as director of the Sociocultural Area of ​​the Presidency, a position she assumed in March when her husband became president.

The contagion of the anthropologist and educator occurred while Boric is in Los Angeles (California, United States) to attend the Summit of the Americas, his first major international event.

On the same day, local media reported on the positive result of covid-19 of businessman Juan Sutil, president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC) and member of the president’s entourage in the US.

For this reason, Sutil is expected to remain in Los Angeles, unable to return to Chile until she recovers.

The Latin American country is experiencing a slight rebound in infections and adds almost 3.8 million cases and 58,000 total deaths due to viruses.
