Father tries to sacrifice his 16-year-old Son as an offering to God in Turkey

A 42-year-old man has tried to kill his 16-year-old son by cutting his neck, in an attempt to sacrifice him as an offering to God, as he explained when he turned himself in to the police in the north of Turkey, reports this Tuesday the newspaper Republic.

The man, a worker in the health sector and a resident of the province of ZonguldakOn the Black Sea coast, he put his son in a vehicle and drove him to a forest, where he cut his neck with a butcher knife.

He left him at the scene thinking he was dead, then turned himself in to the police and confessed to his crime.

According to the newspaper, the agents went to the scene and transferred the young man, who was unconscious, to a hospital, where he remains in intensive care, while the father has been sent to preventive detention.

The father assured that he had first wanted to sacrifice himself, hanging himself with his tie, but after failing, he had a dream that inspired him to turn his son into a religious offering, although he did not detail the reason why he believed this act necessary.

Both the Koran and the Bible describe the myth of Abraham that God orders him to sacrifice his son, although both sacred texts agree that God prevented the murder at the last moment, replacing the boy with a lamb, which has led to to the main annual rite of Islam, the Feast of the Lamb.
