On the seventh day of work, the search range was extended from Concón to Valparaíso and a group of salvage divers was incorporated.

The disappearance of a 5 year old girl, last Wednesday in Viña del Mar, has mobilized the Maritime Authority of Valparaiso in an operation that is now in its seventh day. From the first moment, maritime, air and land means have been deployed to locate the minor, with no positive results so far.

According to the Captain of the Port of Valparaiso, Commander Ignacio Ortiz, “as of this Tuesday, the search has been reinforced with the incorporation of the rescue divers of the Maritime Government of Valparaiso, a specialized unit that will allow work to be carried out in areas of difficult access and in the depths of the sea”.

He also added, “that the search range has been considerably expanded, extending from the Muelle Barón in Valparaíso to the commune of Concón. This extension of the area responds to the need to cover more territory and reinforce the work that has been hampered by the weather conditions that have affected the region”.

Commander Ortiz emphasized the commitment of the Maritime Authority to continue the efforts to find the girl. “Every available resource is being used in this process,” he assured.

During the 7 days that the search has been carried out, the Chilean Navy has deployed two General Service Boats, a maritime patrol boat, a naval helicopter with a rescue swimmer on board, in addition to the Immediate Response Group (GRI) and all the land patrols that have traveled the beaches day and night to find the whereabouts of the girl.
