In Barcelona, where I followed a series of training courses and seminars, I was able to share and get to know many entrepreneurs, traders, businessmen and the general public from Europe and Israel up close. I must confess that, appointment after appointment, I was sad to see abrupt and absurd differences between Argentina and these countries. There is no point of comparison between the standard of living of an average European worker and that of an Argentinian worker.
For example: the average salary in Spain is around 1930 dollars, while in Argentina it is 262 dollars. The annual inflation rate in post-pandemic Spain is 5.8%, while in Argentina it is 94.8%; and, for those who wish to obtain a personal loan, the annual interest rate, for a term of 10 years, is 3% per year in Spain and 211.53 per year in Argentina, for 6 years, taking Banco Nation as a reference.
This leads me to share a thought: in Argentina, with declining purchasing power, the middle class is pulverized.
We are faced with governments that have caused us to have 12 different exchange rates, where the current level of poverty is at least 43.1% of the nation; where the new generation, and I am talking about children up to the age of 17, is plunged into extreme poverty in 62% of cases; in a country where there are 167 taxes (43 national, 39 provincial and 85 municipal), plus Inflation, which is the worst and most dreaded of all. Governments have been instructed to systematically bury the purchasing power of Argentines. A country where 28 million people receive direct income from the state and where there are 182 types of social plans, one of the reasons why the money supply doubles every 6 months, causing our country to lose more value every day cash.
The political landscape shows us the decadence, the lack of ideas and initiatives on the part of leaders and officials and makes us see that the path that Argentines must take, in order to achieve a prosperous life, must come from the side of entrepreneurship, finance education and creating personal brands. There is no other solution for a person to retain their purchasing power in our country.
When we go abroad, we end up having a real dimension of how far we are from having a real middle class as in the case of Spain or Israel, to name a few -ones. in these countries the option not to undertake is really an option, ya que tener un trabajo garantie a sus ciudadanos un nivel de vida más que digno, incluso poder darse ciertos lujos o lo que para un argentino sería un lujo, como dirty a comer afuera una vez por semana, comprar ropa o hacernos un pequeño autoregalo once a week; planning a vacation, having your own vehicle, not working more than eight hours a day and five times a week, having free time and having the money available to allocate it to this free time.
Given the lack of ideas and initiative on the part of leaders and managers, the path that Argentines must take to achieve a prosperous life must come from the side of entrepreneurship, financial education and creation of personal brands.
In Argentina, every day more people in dependent relationships, or with formal employment, cross the middle class line and land in poverty, finding themselves faced with the impossibility of covering the basic basket ($152,515 per months) which, by the way, keeps increasing.
So my question is again the same: is being an entrepreneur, owning your own business in Argentina, really a reckless attitude?
In today’s world, and in Argentina in particular, the best way to avoid risk is to take risks, get out of your comfort zone and understand that the big problem, after inflation, is is fear. There is an internal crisis of confidence and there is also a reality: our currency continues to depreciate and, despite this, we realize that the only way, and the most powerful, is to overcome fear, to be aware that success in business matters is our duty. , our obligation and our responsibility, especially in a country like ours.
Often great ideas are the product of inspiration, as in Europe, or desperation, as in Argentina. Whatever the channel, the important thing is:
a) Realize the real problem, which already represents 50% of the solution;
b) Take action.
You have to understand that life is not a dress rehearsal, it’s our final version. Having a more prosperous life does not depend on the government in power but on ourselves and the decisions we make.
We must take 100% responsibility and accept that only we, and no one but us, have the power to move to a second level and that the path to achieving financial freedom is none other than discovering our talent and translating it into a brand thus creating our own business which provides us with liquidity and allows us to create high quality assets.
