Disney has already released a line of Oogie Boogie Boogie Bash 2024 merchandise for fans eager for Halloween to return.
The product line includes a Disneyland T-shirt with a Haunted Mansion Holiday design, suggesting that the venerable dark haunted attraction will return from its refurbishment with its traditional holiday overlay in time for Halloween at the end of August.
Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion has received a “Nightmare Before Christmas” makeover based on the Tim Burton animated film for more than 20 years. The New Orleans Square attraction has undergone an extensive makeover since January.
Halloween Time will begin earlier in 2024, when the seasonal event kicks off Aug. 23 and runs through Oct. 31 at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Seasonal décor will once again fill both parks with a huge Mickey Mouse pumpkin on Main Street U.S.A., the Headless Horseman statue on Buena Vista Street and Cars Land’s revamped Radiator Screams.
Expect to see the return of holiday attraction overlays for Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters at Disney California Adventure.
Oogie Boogie Bash, presented by the scary monster Oogie Boogie from “Nightmare Before Christmas,” generally includes a Halloween parade, a Disney villains tour experience, a Mickey Mouse children’s show and trick-or-treating trails.
The after-hours, separately ticketed, limited-capacity Halloween event at Disney California Adventure is one of the few times of the year when older children and adults can wear a costume at the theme park.
The frightfully fun parade features rarely seen characters such as Sleepy Hollow’s Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, Jack Skellington, Dr. Facilier and the Cheshire Cat.
The Villain’s Grove lighting and sound effects walk-through experience transforms the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail with ethereal scenes inspired by Maleficent, Scar, Frollo, the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland and the Evil Queen from Snow White.
“Mickey’s Trick & Treat” show at the Disney Jr. Dance Party Theater features a mad scientist who brews a potion that unleashes bats, spiders and ghosts created with video projections and special effects.
Guests young and old can trick-or-treat along immersive walkways filled with villains like Oogie Boogie and Maleficent sitting on themed thrones.
Most DCA attractions remain open during Oogie Boogie Bash with shorter wait times due to the event’s limited capacity.
Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash are strictly G-rated spooky fun, without the scares and horror imagery of other haunted Southern California theme park events such as Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights (rated R), Knott’s Scary Farm (PG-13), SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream (PG-13) and Six Flags’ Fright Fest (PG).
