After more than two years of pandemic, the restrictions are slowly being left behind and many customs that are missed return. Giving each other hugs and having contact without considering the regulatory physical distance is probably what was most missed and Disney knows that.
Since April 18, Disney again allows tourists and fans to hug their favorite characters, also take selfies with them and share a few seconds without physical distance. By significantly reducing infections around the world, Walt Disney Resort lifted the restrictions that prevented Mickey and his friends from getting close.
Cuddles with Mickey Mouse, Donald and Cinderella were canceled for visitors in May 2020, in response to health protocols. The Disney parks were also unable to carry out the classic parades, to avoid crowds of parents and children. Even many parks had to close their doors due to spikes in infections.
This was announced with great fanfare on their social networks. “The moment we were all waiting for has arrived,” they expressed in the official DisneyParks account in the publication that showed a video in which the characters hugged visitors and other employees of the place.
“You’ll be able to hug Mickey Mouse again, get an autograph from Mulan and share a few laughs with Goofy. We know many of you have missed these special moments, and your Disney character friends have missed you too!” the company in a statement.
