After months in which the Ariel Rewards had to be postponed for lack of money to carry out the ceremony, the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (ACC) revealed that Yes, he will do the price and opened the call for the recording of the images, not without reminding that its economic crisis continues.
By the end of 2022, the General assembly of the Ariel informed that, as he had long anticipated, the financial problems that they had outgrown the Academy and could not perform the 65th Awards Ceremony, suspending them until further notice.
This generated criticism and even debate from artists and politicians due to the lack of support for the awards; however, thank you for the donations AMACC has obtained for International equipment and film design and the contributions of its members, launched the call for the 2023 edition of the ceremony.
“Although at the end of 2022 the financial situation of AMACC put it at risk of not being able to open this call, we appreciate the support of Equipment and Film Design International (EFD) for their donation and membership dues of the Mexican association Academy of Arts and Ciencias Cinematográficas, AC to launch it »
However, they pointed out that the donations and fees that will cover the event do not give them certainty for the development of the Academy and it does not solve the economic problems they’ve had it for over a year.
“However, it is a fact that the economic situation of our Academy is uncertain and this does not solve the other aspects related to the awards ceremony, nor the daily work that AMACC carries out in favor of Mexican cinema,” reads the letter published on February 28.
