They decreed a curfew to prevent COVID-19 infections in the middle of Christmas celebrations in Colombia.

This Monday, April 5, the Governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García Bustos, announced that the department will have a new curfew that will govern the entire department from midnight to 5 in the morning, from this Tuesday the 6th until Monday the 19th of April.

Cundinamarca continues to give part of tranquility but not confidence. We are the first department in vaccination against c ovid-19 and today we register an occupancy of intensive care beds of 44%. However, we cannot trust ourselves, we must continue to implement actions to avoid a third spike of contagion in our department. Hand in hand with the 116 mayors and mayors of our territory, we will implement a curfew between 12 at night and 5 in the morning from April 6 to 19.

According to the departmental president, the EPS will multiply the number of tests in the territory, especially in places where there was significant tourist movement during Holy Week.

He said that they also want to identify new cases, in order to keep the epidemiological fence under control and keep the virus under control for two weeks.

Together we continue to seek to avoid the third peak of contagion in our department and we also intend to continue offering the friendly hand of Cundinamarca to the rest of the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, the department registered 310 new infections this Monday, reaching 112,156 since the pandemic began.

García said that he will work hand in hand with the mayor of Bogotá Claudia López so that public or private vehicles do not transit, and thus avoid the third peak that will arrive in the last weeks of April. And it is that the restrictions will not only be in the department of Cundinamarca, but in the capital of the country.

On the afternoon of this April 5, after meeting with the epidemiological committee of the Ministry of Health (MinSalud), the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, announced that the 4 by 3 scheme will be implemented to avoid the accelerated contagion of covid-19 . Likewise, he explained that due to that determination, the night curfew would not apply on the other days, but the ‘peak and cedula’ will be implemented.

“There will be no curfew between 12 at night and five in the morning, but there would be a 4: 3 scheme. That is, four days of study and work, without restrictions on mobility, and three days of general quarantine “ Lopez said.

The president explained that this measure will take effect from Thursday, April 8 from 10:00 p.m. to Monday, April 12 at 4:00 a.m. Afterwards, it would be repeated from Thursday, April 15 from 10:00 a.m. 00 pm until Monday, April 19 at 4:00 am

It is important to mention that these measures are those proposed by the Bogotá Mayor’s Office, but to be implemented they must be approved by President Iván Duque. López assured that he expects the national president to deliver his verdict on the guidelines no later than 6:00 pm this Monday, and thus issue the decree immediately and that the rule begins to take effect from midnight and extends until the 19th of the same month.

Similarly, It is expected that in this document the decision to continue offering the medical teleconsultation service for patients who do not have serious health problems will be maintained.. This decision would be made in order to decongest the health centers of Bogotá.

The decision to take new measures in the Colombian capital to face the coronavirus is due to the fact that, in the last two weeks in the city, as well as in the rest of the country, there has been an increase in infections of the virus. López even announced last Wednesday that the third peak of the coronavirus “has already begun”.
